North Island Credit Union Launches Backpack Drive For San Diego Students
The credit union will fill each donated backpack with school supplies.
SAN DIEGO, CA — North Island Credit Union has launched its annual school backpack drive in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego to collect new backpacks for local elementary and middle school students.
Donations will be accepted through July 17 at all North Island Credit Union branches in San Diego County. The credit union will fill each donated backpack with school supplies before the Boys & Girls Clubs distributes them to children in need ahead of the new school year.
The backpack drive is in its sixth year.

"A new backpack filled with school supplies can make a meaningful difference for a student walking into the first day of school," North Island Credit Union President and CEO Steve O'Connell said in a statement.
"We're proud to continue our partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego to help local kids feel prepared, supported and excited to learn," O'Connell said. "We invite our members and community to join us in making the start of the school year a little brighter for students across San Diego."

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego serves children ages 5 to 18 at 22 locations throughout the county. The organization's annual Back 2 School Drive provides school supplies to club members.
