San Diego County Seeks Poll Workers Ahead Of Nov. 3 Election

SAN DIEGO, CA — San Diego County election officials are seeking poll workers ahead of the Nov. 3 gubernatorial general election, with the greatest need in Carlsbad, central San Diego, Oceanside and Vista.

The Registrar of Voters is recruiting workers to staff vote centers, which will begin opening Oct. 24 and operate for up to 11 days. Workers can serve four or 11 days, allowing for different shift schedules.

The county has an especially high need for poll workers in Carlsbad, central San Diego, Oceanside and Vista, where additional workers are required to staff nearby vote centers.

Poll workers will receive a $145 daily stipend from Oct. 24 through Nov. 2 and $240 on Election Day because of the longer hours. Bilingual workers will receive an additional $5 per day and $10 on Election Day.

The county is also seeking bilingual workers who can assist voters in 15 languages, including Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Hmong, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Laotian, Persian, Somali and Thai.

Poll workers must be U.S. citizens registered to vote in California or lawful permanent residents, have reliable transportation and complete two days of paid training. Training workers will receive a $95 daily stipend.

Workers will open and close vote centers, assist voters, answer questions and complete paperwork. They must serve in a professional and nonpartisan manner.
