Bay Area Crashes And Roadwork Snarl Friday Commute

BAY AREA, CA — A reported fatal hit-and-run and a series of crashes, as well as roadwork, are slowing drivers across the Bay Area this morning.

A fatal hit-and-run involving a cyclist has blocked traffic in all directions at the Capitol Expressway.

A crash near northbound Interstate 238 and Interstate 880 is adding to traffic in Hayward and Castro Valley.

Drivers leaving Castro Valley should use Interstate 580 although the lanes are open.

On the Bay Bridge, traffic is still slow and backed up to the Maze.

A traffic hazard has blocked a lane on westbound Highway 92 east of the San Mateo Bridge toll plaza in Hayward.

Farther west, a disabled vehicle is affecting a lane near the bridge’s high rise in Foster City. Drivers should expect delays at both locations.

On northbound Highway 101, a disabled vehicle north of Dore Avenue in San Mateo closed lanes.

Northbound 280 near Hwy 17 is also slow and should be avoided.
