Ski-Masked Driver Tips Officer Off, Leads To Stolen Vehicle Arrest: Police

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A lieutenant with the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department was on his way to work on Wednesday when he noticed something wasn't quite right: a driver wearing a ski mask, according to the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department.

The lieutenant looked up the car and noticed it had been stolen earlier that morning out of San Leandro, police said.

The lieutenant followed the driver and requested additional officers. Meanwhile, the suspect led officers to a shopping center in Oakland, where he tried to escape, authorities said.

But officers took him into custody, later learning that the suspect also had multiple warrants out for his arrest for theft and possession of a stolen vehicle, police said.
