Undefeated: East Bay University Basketball Team Finishes Historic Season With Perfect Record

The East Bay team was one of two across the country to accomplish the feat.

HAYWARD, CA — The Cal State East Bay Men's Basketball Team is the only team across the country to finish their regular season with a perfect record — a historic turnaround for a team that failed to make the playoffs last year.

The Falcons finished the 2025-2026 season with a 28-0 record, 22 of those wins coming in conference play. They closed out the season with a 58-51 win over UC Merced on Sunday.

They'll play in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinal against Cal Poly Pomona on Friday at 8 p.m.

"An undefeated regular season is something none of us will ever forget," Head Coach Bryan Rooney said following the game. "It also provides motivation as we head into the postseason to keep playing as long as we can. We are excited to keep creating memories together."

Cal State East Bay plays Division II basketball. The only other team to remain undefeated this year is Miami University (Ohio). The Division I program currently has a 30-0 record and has a chance to finish a perfect season on Friday in a lopsided matchup against the 15-5 Ohio Bobcats.
