Bay Area Massage Therapist Convicted Of Sex Crimes For Second Time: DA

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — A Bay Area massage therapist previously convicted of sexual battery has been found guilty of three more sex crimes involving a woman in Millbrae, prosecutors said.

Guosheng Chen, 49, was convicted of two felonies and one misdemeanor for crimes committed against a woman while he was working as a masseur in December 2024, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

The conviction was not Chen's first for a sex crime. Chen was previously convicted of sexual battery in 2023, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.

Chen will remain in custody pending his Sept. 8 sentencing, prosecutors said.

The investigation began after a woman contacted the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office on Dec. 22, 2024, and reported that she had been sexually assaulted during a massage at the Water Lounge Spa in Millbrae.

Investigators said at the time that the woman reported unwanted inappropriate and sexual touching by a male massage therapist. Authorities identified Chen, then a Hayward resident, as the therapist and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Chen was arrested in January 2025 with assistance from authorities in Hayward and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility.

The Sheriff's Office said at the time that Chen had worked as a massage therapist in San Mateo, Alameda, Contra Costa and San Diego counties. Investigators also said they believed there could be additional unidentified victims.
