Man Faces Deadly Weapon Charge After Violent Attack With Stick In SMC: Police
The attacker was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon after inflicting a visible head injury, police said.
SAN MATEO, CA — A heated verbal dispute escalated when one man bludgeoned another with a stick Saturday evening in San Mateo, police said.
San Mateo Police Department officers said ther were called to the 300 block of S. Humboldt Street around 6:26 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers said they detained 39-year-old Elio Argueta Benitez after witnesses claimed an argument, which started over an unknown conflict, exploded into violence when Benitez grabbed a stick and struck the man he was arguing with in the head.
The blow inflicted a visible injury, and Benitez was arrested and booked for assault with a deadly weapon, police said. The victim received medical attention at the scene but refused further treatment.
