Viral Video Shows 'Goofball' SMC K-9 Getting Head Stuck In Cone

SAN MATEO, CA — A member of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office recently went viral for a somewhat embarrassing mistake.

The viral video shows Adonis, a K-9 with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office, biting and tossing around an orange traffic cone on Monday when it suddenly got stuck on his head.

The playful K-9 can then be seen trying vigorously to shake the cone off.

"Sometimes Mondays hit different… like when your K-9 partner gets his head stuck in a traffic cone,: the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. "Not to worry, K-9 Adonis is perfectly fine (minus a little embarrassment). The cone, on the other hand… County of San Mateo - Government, we’re putting that on Adonis’ tab. Our bad!"

The video, which was posted to Facebook on Monday, has amassed over 53,000 likes.

"You do have to train for all scenarios," one Facebook user commented.

"That traffic cone tried to sell me drugs last week," another user commented. "Maybe you should be thanking Adonis for always being on the job!"

Adonis, which the sheriff's office described as a "goofball," is a four-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd assigned with his deputy partner to the city of San Carlos. He's been with the department K-9 since he was one.

"Adonis is one of 17 K-9s assigned to our K-9 Unit, each dedicated to keeping our communities safe," the sheriff's office said. "We’re so glad everyone loved (and laughed at) Adonis as much as we do!"
