World Cup Fever Hits San Mateo: Shopping Center Throws Free Street Soccer Party
The family-friendly event features goal challenges, mini soccer matches and a 10-foot soccer ball photo installation.
SAN MATEO, CA — Hillsdale Shopping Center is hosting a free World Cup celebration in San Mateo next weekend, bringing soccer activities, raffle giveaways, and family-friendly fun to its North Block Plaza on Saturday
“This event is designed to capture the energy and excitement surrounding the World Cup while creating a fun, interactive experience for the community,” said Milla Khano, marketing director at Hillsdale Shopping Center. “We’re looking forward to bringing families, soccer fans and visitors together for an afternoon that feels celebratory, engaging and uniquely connected to the spirit of the game.”
The event, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, is being organized in partnership with Redwood City-based soccer organization JSC Jasa and is timed to coincide with the buildup to the World Cup coming to the Bay Area region.

Activities include goal shooting drills, cone obstacle courses, juggling stations, and mini soccer matches, along with soccer merchandise and food for purchase. Raffle giveaways, including Hillsdale Shopping Center gift cards, will be held throughout the afternoon.
A 10-foot soccer ball installation will be on display for photos throughout the World Cup season.
