San Ramon Police Announce Arrest In 3-County Business Burglary Investigation

SAN RAMON, CA — San Ramon and Dublin police jointly arrested a 19-year-old Pleasanton resident on a Contra Costa County burglary warrant as they investigate a series of commercial burglaries spanning three Bay Area counties.

Juan Luis Valdez-Luevano was arrested Sept. 16 at the Alameda County Probation Office in Dublin before a meeting with his probation officer, according to the San Ramon Police Department. Investigators also found evidence in his vehicle and Pleasanton home they believe is related to the burglaries.

Pleasanton police said San Ramon detectives identified Valdez-Luevano as a suspect. Pleasanton detectives then linked him to a Sept. 10 spree in which at least 25 businesses in their city were burglarized.

Police said Tuesday that they believe Juan Luis Valdez-Luevano and other suspects were responsible for the burglaries in Pleasanton and multiple cities across Alameda, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara counties. Similar burglary sprees were reported in San Ramon and Danville, though police did not specify whether they believe Valdez-Luevano was involved in those incidents.

In Pleasanton, police said that four individuals in hooded sweatshirts were seen smashing front glass windows and leaving one business with a cash register. They left in a sedan with no license plates.

Valdez-Luevano was booked in Contra Costa County on multiple burglary charges, police said. He is expected to be transferred to Alameda County, where additional charges are being sought in connection with the Sept. 10 burglaries.

Pleasanton detectives say they are continuing to work with neighboring agencies to identify other individuals who may have been involved.
