Designed to empower families and foster community wellness, the event brings together healthcare providers, youth organizations, and family support advocates. Highlights of the day include:

Santa Barbara Cemetery

The family, friends, fellow veterans and community members are invited to gather at Santa Barbara Cemetery to honor the life and legacy of decorated World War II veteran Arthur Max Petersen, a longtime Santa Barbara resident and member of the 101st Airborne Division.The graveside ceremony will include a military burial and memorial honoring Petersen, who served in major World War II campaigns including D-Day, the Battle of Carentan, Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. He received two Purple Hearts and was awarded France's Legion of Honor Medal in 2015.The ceremony will include a military funeral flag-folding ceremony conducted by members of the 101st Airborne Division, along with music, military honors and a T-34 squadron flyover featuring four passes and a missing man formation.Featured Participants:

Beloved folk songs. A world premiere. A secret melody revealed.
Acclaimed violist Richard O’Neill and pianist-composer August Baik open the Mariposa Series with a vivid, deeply personal program about heritage, memory, and the music that lives beneath the surface. Baik’s new work draws on Korean folk songs, while Britten’s haunting Lachrymae slowly reveals a hidden song by John Dowland. Rzewski’s “Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues” transforms a folk song made famous by Pete Seeger and transforms it into a virtuosic tour de force.
The evening culminates in Sergei Rachmaninoff’s sweeping Sonata in G Minor, arranged for viola by O’Neill — a passionate, cinematic work that has shaped both artists’ lives. For Baik, it was the first major duo sonata he studied; for O’Neill, it has remained a lifelong companion since learning it during a formative and deeply emotional summer at the Music Academy under legendary mentor Donald McInnes. Returning to the sonata over the years has revealed new layers of meaning and connection, reminding both musicians that while life changes, great music evolves alongside us.
Together, O’Neill and Baik create a powerful journey of discovery and transformation, where old songs become new again.

Mitchell touched millions with her nearly 40-year career that spanned genres from contemporary folk to jazz to full-throated pop-rock. This incredible seven-piece band, modeled on Joni’s tenure with Tom Scott &amp; the L.A. Express, plays all your favorite tunes, like Help Me, Both Sides Now, Conversation, Blue, River, All I Want, Free Man in Paris, Carey and, of course, Woodstock. The band also throws in a few you might not have heard before …
Celebration of Join Mitchell (COJM) has been packing houses throughout Southern and Northern California and the Southwest since 2014. Significant performances include the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara, Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz, Yoshi’s Oakland, Olivas Adobe in Ventura, Palms Playhouse in Winters and Grand Annex in San Pedro. In 2020, the band mounted its first East Coast tour with a stop at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
Die-hard fans can’t get enough (and often sing along) and critics have noticed. “No singer on the West Coast is paying more scrupulous attention to Mitchell’s wondrous book than Santa Barbara’s Kimberly Ford,” writes Bay Area journalist Andy Gilbert, noting her “bright and flexible soprano that effortlessly rises into Mitchell’s upper range.”
Ford and her band bring a new verve to all of Joni’s favored genres. Not content to be a paint-by-numbers tribute band, COJM infuses Mitchell’s songs with new life while paying deep respect to a revered icon and poet laureate of her generation’s songwriters.
Joni’s absence from performing has only whetted appetites for COJM since the band’s birth six years ago. Founding drummer Charles Levin approached Ford with the idea after hearing her sing on gig at a private party. Two weeks later, he emailed Ford to see if she was game for a Joni-centric band. The answer was a resounding yes! In a short time, Ford and Levin assembled a crew of the area’s best-known musicians to take on the project.
