Santa Monica History Museum Names New Executive Director

A former Santa Monica History Museum curator has been named the institution's new executive director.

SANTA MONICA, CA — A former Santa Monica History Museum curator has been named the institution's new executive director.

The museum recently named Anne Wallentine as its new leader. She began in the role on March 16.

As executive director, Wallentine is expected to focus on expanding the museum’s collaborative exhibitions, school partnerships, and public programming.

While the museum's curator, she led the development of research-driven exhibitions and community-focused programs, including the museum’s first exhibition on LGBTQ+ history and exhibitions addressing housing and environmental history.

“Her knowledge of our institution, paired with her vision for participatory public history, makes her the ideal leader to guide the museum into its next chapter,” Museum President and interim Chair of the Museum’s Board of Directors, Susan Potter, said of Wallentine in a statement.

“Her knowledge of our institution, paired with her vision for participatory public history, makes her the ideal leader to guide the museum into its next chapter," she added.

“I am honored to lead an institution dedicated to sharing the stories that shape Santa Monica’s past and present,” Wallentine said. “The museum is a vital community resource, and I look forward to deepening our partnerships and expanding our programs to ensure every resident feels a connection to our shared history.”
