On most Friday evenings, Polk Street and the Marina offer a familiar mix of neighborhood regulars, groups meeting after work and people trying to decide where the rest of the night should take them. Friday, October 30, will look a little different. Expect superheroes waiting at crosswalks, movie villains ordering drinks and packs of friends moving between bars in matching costumes. It's Halloween in San Francisco and the fun is only beginning.
The San Francisco Halloween Bar Crawl returns that evening for the second event in its four-day 2026 series. The crawl will run from 6 PM to 11 PM, beginning with check-in at Mayes Oyster House at 1233 Polk Street, Rick & Roxy's or Union Street Ale House. From there, participants will be able to choose their own routes through more than 20 participating bars.
The timing is difficult to beat. Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026, which gives the city an entire weekend to celebrate. Friday night serves as the start of the main Halloween weekend, when costumes are finished, plans have been made and almost everyone seems ready to stay out a little later than usual.
The event is less like a guided tour and more like a passport to several sections of San Francisco nightlife. Participants do not have to follow a host or move from bar to bar at a fixed time. After checking in, they can visit the participating locations in any order and stay at each one for as long as they like.
Those who want to remain near Polk Street will have plenty of choices, including Mayes Oyster House, McTeague’s Saloon, Route 101, R Bar, Lush Lounge, Hanaro, El Lopo, Decodance, Beso Mae and Uni Pizza. Participants can also continue toward the Marina and Cow Hollow, where the lineup includes White Rabbit, Silver Cloud, The Blue Light, Jaxson, Westwood, Rockwell, Comet Club, Sacred Taco, Union Street Ale House, Rick & Roxy’s, Wizards & Wands and Campus.
Each bar will offer a slightly different version of the night. One may have a crowded dance floor and a DJ, while another may be better for meeting friends over a drink. The freedom to move between locations allows participants to change the mood of the evening whenever they want.
Tickets include discounted drinks at participating bars, free entry to participating locations, DJs, party favors, contests and more. Costumes are encouraged, particularly for those who want to take part in the evening’s contests or simply avoid being the only person on Polk Street dressed normally.
The October 30 pub crawl is the second part of a Halloween series that begins on October 24. Additional events will take place on October 31 and November 1, allowing you to attend one night or make Halloween into a much longer celebration.
