TEMECULA, CA — Weddings and large parties are still eyed for Temecula's Redhawk Golf Course.

During its regularly scheduled Tuesday, July 14, meeting, the Temecula City Council will consider adopting a resolution approving such events at the golf facility located at 45100 Redhawk Parkway.

"Many golf courses host weddings and other events," according to documents from the city of Temecula. "The addition of a wedding/event center will improve the economic viability of the Redhawk Golf Course."

The idea of hosting events at the golf course dates back to Dec. 21, 2020, when the city approved construction of a 3,200-square-foot outdoor pavilion at the venue. The pavilion is currently used for hosting golf-related events, such as tournaments and awards presentations.

But in 2023, additional applications were submitted to the city for the facility.

"The intent of these applications is to allow the golf course to conduct weddings/events within the existing pavilion," according to city documents.

The Temecula Planning Commission has had ongoing discussions about such events at the pavilion, and it now appears a decision could be rendered this week by City Council.

Publicly noticed outreach meetings have been held, and they were well attended by Redhawk residents. Noise and traffic were primary concerns voiced by the community, city documents show.

"Amplified music, microphones, and large gatherings will disrupt the quiet enjoyment of nearby homes and backyards," a resident who lives near the golf course shared in a Sept. 30 email to the city. "Large events will increase congestion and may push overflow parking into surrounding neighborhoods."

To ease concerns, the updated proposal calls for weddings and parties to take place between noon and 9 p.m., no more than three days per week. All events, regardless of type will be required to comply with the city's noise ordinance, and venue cleanup must be done by 10 p.m.

City staff has reviewed the project in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act.

The 3 p.m. July 14 Temecula City Council meeting will be held at City Hall, 41000 Main Street. See the full meeting agenda here.
