The Story of Harvard Women Astronomical Computers

The Story of Harvard Women Astronomical Computers

Recommended for ages 7+ | Tweens and teens welcome!

Griffith Observatory astronomer Casey Cooper shares the inspiring story of the Harvard Women Astronomical Computers, a group of amazing women who helped shape modern astronomy by hand-cataloging thousands of stars. These women made exciting discoveries, formed lifelong friendships, and worked to include coworkers who were hard of hearing. Participate in an engaging introduction to the ASL alphabet and some cool space-themed signs. Optional coloring and beading listening aids will be available-- bring your own if you like! Funded by the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. ASL interpretation provided at this program.
