Grab your family, besties and littles and join us for a special showing of Hoppers on the big screen! All ages are welcome at this family friendly event. Join us for fun Friday movie nights all summer long. Proceeds benefit Joybound’s life-changing programs.

Joybound People &amp; Pets Campus is located at 2890 Mitchell Drive, Walnut Creek. The film will be shown on our big screen in the Pavillion. Concessions, beverages, and treats will be available for purchase onsite. Suggested registration sliding scale of $5-$10 per person to attend. Free parking is available onsite. 

Our adoption floor is open Monday-Friday from 12:00-7:00 pm and Saturday-Sunday from 11:00 am-6:00 pm so come early to check out all our adorable adoptable dogs and cats!

July 10th: Hoppers (2026) Animal lover Mabel uses clever new technology designed to “hop” human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals to communicate with beavers, uncovering mysteries within the animal world beyond anything she could have imagined. Cast includes Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, Meryl Streep, Melissa Villasenor, and more. Directed by Daniel Chong.

Enjoy a guided agave tour followed by a tasting flight featuring four different mezcals at the Ruth Bancroft Garden.
The evening begins with a tour of the Garden’s agave collection led by longtime curator Brian Kemble and Susan Coss, co-founder of <a href="https://www.mezcalistas.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Mezcalistas</a>, the leading source for mezcal news, culture, and events. Learn how these remarkable plants are grown, their role in mezcal production, and the history, regionality, and distillation process behind one of Mexico’s most iconic spirits.
Following the tour, Susan will take guests on a flavor journey through agave spirits representing many of the agaves in the Garden, exploring why the agave life cycle is crucial to the long-term sustainability of the spirits that come from the plant. Curator Brian Kemble has worked at the Garden for more than 46 years. He has spent decades studying, caring for, and hybridizing agaves, as well as traveling the world to search for them in habitat.
Susan Coss, co-founder and director of Mezcalistas, is also the creator of Mexico in a Bottle, a celebrated tasting series launched in 2014 to showcase craft producers and the full breadth of Mexican spirits. She has been traveling the backroads of mezcal-producing regions since 2010.

Back by popular demand! Kitten Yoga returns to the Garden for a gentle, all-levels class designed to help you stretch, breathe, and unwind in the company of playful, adoptable kittens.
Led by certified instructor Marie Ramagli, this calming class invites you to move through accessible yoga poses, embrace your best “cat stretches,” and enjoy a few spontaneous kitten cuddles along the way. As you settle into the moment, you may find your stress melting away and your mind growing quiet enough to hear the purrs.
After class, stay a little longer to meet the adoptable kittens and cats from Contra Costa Humane Society, browse unique cat-themed merchandise, and take a peaceful stroll through the Garden.
Proceeds support both the Garden and Contra Costa Humane Society — a purrrfect pairing that makes your participation as meaningful as it is restorative.
Please note: Participants must be 14 years or older. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring your own mat or reach out to education@ruthbancroftgarden.org if you need to borrow one.
