Rescuing Pups From A Lab And Cats From Friday 13 Myths
Black cat adoption fees are waived today at Joybound People & Pets, which recently found homes for 4 beagles released from a lab.

WALNUT CREEK, CA — Joybound People & Pets welcomed eight former lab beagles and several black cats into their care— and began transforming their lives one adoption at a time.
Sophie Baek, one of the beagles who had never known a living room, a toy, or a neighborhood walk, became the organization’s 54,000th adoption, marking a milestone for Joybound.
The first four dogs quickly learned to chase balls, enjoy treats, and snuggle with their new families.

The remaining four beagles—Francesca, Penelope, Violet, and Eloise—needed a little extra time. Each requires dental surgery to start their new lives healthy and comfortable, but staff said the dogs are already responding to affection, toys, and outdoor adventures.
For black cats, today brought its own challenge. On Friday the 13th, black cats face myths of bad luck and mystery. Myths tie them to spooky stories, leaving many overlooked in shelters.

Joybound set the record straight by waiving all adoption fees for black cats like Snoop Dog, showing that these often-overlooked animals are just as playful, curious, and affectionate as any other cat.
The organization offers affordable veterinary care, training classes, and behavioral consultations to help adopters guide animals through the transition to a home.
Joybound staff said every animal at the shelter deserves a home where they won’t be judged for their past or their color.
