12-Year-Old Arrested Following Social Media Threat Against Ansonia School: PD

ANSONIA, CT — A 12-year-old is facing charges after posting a threatening message directed at a local school on the social media platform TikTok, according to police.

Police said they received a report Saturday from a local school official about the threatening post, which referenced an Ansonia public school. Police did not elaborate on the contents of the post.

Investigators identified the person behind the post as a 12-year-old former Ansonia student, who now attends school in a different municipality, police said.

“Officers determined that there was no credible threat to the Ansonia Public School System, its students, or its staff,” police said.

The juvenile was charged Monday with first-degree threatening and breach of peace. The youth was released into the custody of a parent and is due to appear in Juvenile Court in Waterbury at a future date.
