18-Year-Pulled From Candlewood Lake, 2 Hospitalized
A 15-year-old performed CPR on the 18 year-old, a state official said.
SHERMAN, CT — The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection EnCon Police responded to a report of swimmers in distress in Candlewood Lake on Saturday afternoon, a state official said.
Several people were swimming from an anchored boat to Chicken Rock. An 18-year-old man was swimming when he had difficulty and went underwater, a state official said.
Four of the person’s friends and a 15-year-old Good Samaritan pulled the 18-year-old from the water, and the Good Samaritan performed CPR, an official said.

The 18-year-old and a 21-year-old who helped in pulling the 18-year-old from the water were transported to Danbury hospital. Both individuals are conscious and alert at the hospital.
In addition to EnCon, Candlewood Lake Authority, Sherman Fire, New Fairfield Fire, Sherman Ambulance, New Fairfield Ambulance, and Danbury Hospital ambulance, all were involved in the response.
