Bonbons Recalled In CT Due To Undeclared Walnuts: FDA
The candy is packaged under the name "Bette's Bake Sale."

CONNECTICUT — A chocolate maker has issued a nationwide recall of its “Bette’s Bake Sale” bonbon collection due to the candy potentially containing undeclared walnuts.
Boxes of the candy are sold online to several states, including Connecticut.
French Broad Chocolates PBC, based in North Carolina, announced the recall on April 23.

The recall includes boxes with six, 12 and 24 pieces of candy, with batch numbers 260414 and 260417.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the company said.

No illnesses have been reported to date, according to the company.
The recalled products were distributed between April 14 and April 20.
The products were sold in French Broad Chocolates retail stores in Asheville, North Carolina. They were also sold online at frenchbroadchocolates.com to 41 states, including Connecticut. See the full list HERE.
A tasting notes insert fails to mention a tree nut allergen, specifically walnuts, according to the company.
“The Walnut Fudge bonbon, which contains walnuts, is incorrectly identified in the printed tasting notes included with the product. The Walnut Fudge and Peach Cobbler bonbons are switched in the guide, which means a consumer relying on the printed materials could mistakenly consume a nut-containing piece,” the company said.
Consumers with a tree nut allergy who bought the products are urged to return them to where they bought them for a full refund, or discard the product.
The recall is being made with the knowledge of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the company said.
Consumers with questions should contact the company’s customer service department at support@frenchbroadchocolates.com or 828-252-4181.
