Man Found Dead Deep In Woods In CT Town, Police Say

COLCHESTER, CT — An investigation is underway after a man was found dead deep in the woods in Colchester, according to police.

Police found an unattended vehicle belonging to a 64-year-old man in the parking lot of Airline Trail on Westchester Road.

The man was unaccounted for, which prompted law enforcement to search the area.

Local police along with the Connecticut DEEP, Connecticut State Police Search and Rescue, the Connecticut State Police Drone Unit and Connecticut State Police Patrol K9s all searched the area.

They found the man dead deep in the woods off Paper Mill Road.

He was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy will be done.

The investigation remains ongoing.

"We appreciate the assistance of all the agencies that responded and helped with the search, as well as the public’s patience while emergency personnel operated in the area," Colchester police said in a statement.
