BRISTOL, CT — A new Italian restaurant is coming soon to downtown, and the business will also offer special workshops for anyone who wants to learn to make pizza.

Tavello Pizza will be opening shortly in space at 140 North Main St.

The restaurant’s menu will feature signature pies, salads, classic Italian desserts like cannoli and more.

“We’re working hard behind the scenes to bring you authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, fresh ingredients, handmade dough, gelato, desserts, beer & wine, and an unforgettable experience right here in Bristol,” the business said, on its Facebook page.

According to management, the restaurant will offer more than food — classes will be available too.

It will host pizza-making workshops for families and special occasions, such as birthday parties and team-building events. The business’ pizza experts will guide participants through every step of the process, from stretching the dough to adding toppings.

In advance of its grand opening, the business has been undergoing renovations to its space, which will feature custom-built, wood-fired ovens. On Tuesday, workers were inside putting finishing touches on the new restaurant.

“These ovens are more than just equipment—they represent the craftsmanship, passion, and heritage that define authentic Italian pizza making,” the business said.

Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu said of this latest addition to the downtown business district, “We are very excited to welcome Tavello and the three other businesses that are part of the Carrier’s Centre Square Village second building. We are anticipating that the pizza, salad and gelato menu and the ambiance is going to be as popular as the first building was when Pure Foods, Dark Moon and Monterrey opened.”

According to Zoppo-Sassu, the city is planning for parking to accommodate the retail and restaurant growth, and she noted people can park at City Hall and Wheeler Health after 5 p.m., and parking is free in the two municipal parking garages on Hope Street and Meadow Street.

While Tavello Pizza hasn’t formally announced an opening date yet, workers at the site on Tuesday said the target is mid-July.
