Severe Thunderstorms Forecast Again For CT: Here's When To Expect Them

Another day, another chance for strong-to-severe thunderstorms, and very hot weather conditions continue too.

The National Weather Service said, "Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. An isolated damaging wind gust and flash flooding are possible in the strongest storms."

WFSB 3 TV meteorologists said, "We’re watching the potential for isolated storms to develop in the late afternoon and evening. Some of them could be strong, or even severe. Impacts include heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding or poor drainage, frequent lightning, damaging wind gusts, and possibly some hail."

Sunday and Monday will also continue to be very hot with temperatures around 90 degrees under sunny skies. The good news is there doesn't appear to be any storms forecast for Sunday and Monday.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 99. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph.

Tonight: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 96. West wind 5 to 9 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 67. Light north wind.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Today: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 7pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7pm and 8pm. Patchy fog after 3am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 70. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday: Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 63. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.
