Special Weather Statement Issued For CT: Here's What To Know
The trick-or-treat weather forecast looks great with dry conditions and chilly temps.
The dry conditions in Connecticut have led to an elevated risk of fire spread today, according to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service.
“The combination of dry fuels, gusty northwest winds 25 to 35 mph, and minimum relative humidity values near 40 percent will lead to an elevated risk of fire spread,” the National Weather Service said.
It urges residents to be careful when handling possible ignition sources, such as machinery, matches or cigarette butts.

“Any fires that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly,” the statement said.
The elevated risk of fire lasts into Friday evening.

“With leaf drop underway, there is plenty of fuel,” WFSB cautions. “Provided these conditions, it would be a good idea to hold off on any outdoor burning.”
Today is expected to be sunny and warm, with highs in the upper 60s.
The current dry stretch is predicted to continue. The state has gone about two weeks without rain, according to meteorologists. While they previously predicted Connecticut might see rainfall on Monday, the National Weather Service’s current long-range forecast says the next chance for precipitation is Wednesday night.

Dry conditions will continue daily Sunday through Wednesday during the day, according to the National Weather Service. It predicts daytime highs in the 60s through mid-week.

WTNH’s forecast says the state will next get rain late afternoon on Thursday, with a rainy and windy Thursday night.
WFSB predicts the state’s “next chance for some meaningful rain may not come until the end of next week.”
