Thunderstorms Return To The Forecast In CT: Here's When, What To Know

Find out when to expect rain and potential storms, and how the weekend forecast is shaping up, according to meteorologists.

Today will be dry and sunny, but rain and potential thunderstorms are in the forecast tonight.

The National Weather Service reports temperatures today will be in the 80s, with mostly dry conditions.

“As a warm front approaches, expect chances for showers and thunderstorms to increase late this evening into the overnight,” the National Weather Service said.

It predicts showers are likely tonight, with thunderstorms possible after 2 to 3 a.m., with the chance of precipitation around 60 percent.

WFSB reports rain is on its way overnight tonight, with some downpours around 2 to 3 a.m.

“Showers become likely tonight as a warm front moves into and through the region (downpours and a few rumbles of thunder can’t be ruled out),” WFSB reports. “Our Next Big Thing is focused on (Friday), as it will be muggier and we’ll run the risk for an isolated shower or storm during the afternoon as a cold front moves into Southern New England.”

The National Weather Service says showers are likely with thunderstorms possible before 8 to 9 a.m. on Friday. It predicts a slight chance of showers through mid-day, followed by another slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 to 2 p.m. Friday.

WTNH says today will bring sunshine and comfortable humidity.

“Dry this evening, then showers/thundershowers overnight into early Friday morning,” WTNH reports. “Humidity increases Friday, along with the chance for a scattered shower/thunderstorm, but most of the afternoon/evening should be dry!”

Looking ahead to the weekend, the National Weather Service reports there is a chance for showers on Saturday.

“Showers may linger Saturday as well before dry weather returns for Sunday into Monday,” the National Weather Service said.

Most of Saturday will be cloudy, with highs around 80 degrees, followed by sunny conditions and high temperatures in the mid-80s for Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: A slight chance of showers after 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
