WFSB is calling Thursday a “First Alert Weather Day” due to rounds of rain moving across the state.
“First Alert Live Radar is also tracking some embedded downpours and pockets of heavier rain,” WFSB reports. “We’re expecting showers to continue on a more scattered basis through the afternoon. At times the rain could be steady, and a rumble of thunder can’t be ruled out. Today will not only be our wettest day, but the coolest day of the next 7 with highs near 60.”
WFSB anticipates isolated showers will linger into Friday.
“We really could use the rain... the latest update to the drought monitor this morning is now showing parts of southeast CT in a moderate drought status, while the rest of us remain abnormally dry,” WFSB reports.
The National Weather Service predicts some scattered light showers are possible on Friday, then there will be warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday.
“The weather will warm up (Friday), with highs in the 60s across the entire area,” the National Weather Service said. “A bigger warming trend can then be expected over the weekend, with highs in the 70s to around 80 on Saturday, and mainly in the 80s on Sunday.”
WTNH predicts Saturday will be “mostly sunny and delightful,” with highs in the mid to upper 70s, followed by inland highs in the 80s on Sunday.
According to WTNH, there will be “heat and higher humidity” early next week, and it advises you to check your air conditioning systems beforehand.
WFSB also predicts a warming trend this weekend, with Saturday being the most pleasant, followed by hotter temperatures on Sunday, when it anticipates it will be “a bit muggy.”
