Avon PD To Host Drug Take-Back Event This Weekend

AVON, CT — The Avon Police Department will host a medication take-back event on Saturday, April 25, offering residents a safe way to dispose of unused, expired, or unwanted prescription drugs.

The collection will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Avon Senior Center, 635 West Avon Road.

Officials said the event is intended to help prevent misuse of medications and ensure proper disposal, reducing potential harm to public health and the environment.

Avon's event is part of a national program aimed at safely disposing of drugs.

The 30th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, will take place in communities nationwide.

This event provides a free, anonymous, and safe way to dispose of unwanted, unused, or expired prescription medications at thousands of sites across the country, according to the DEA.
