Avon PD Marks Major Milestone With Special Library Exhibit

AVON, CT — The Avon Police Department is marking a major milestone this fall, celebrating 75 years of service to the community with a historical display at the Avon Free Public Library.

The department's 75th anniversary is Oct. 30, 2026, according to Avon police.

As part of the anniversary observance, a display highlighting some of the department's history is open throughout September and October at the library, 281 Country Club Road.

The department currently has an authorized staff of 35 sworn police officers, along with a records and accreditation manager, records coordinator and administrative assistant.

It also employs a part-time animal control officer, information technology manager, and records aide.

Avon police also highlighted the department's longstanding national accreditation as it approaches the anniversary.

The department has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, based in Fairfax, Virginia, since 1993.

Residents can visit the anniversary display at the Avon Free Public Library during September and October.
