Avon Plans Special Hike To Music Festival In Simsbury

AVON/SIMSBURY, CT — Avon residents can combine hiking and live music this weekend during a guided trek to Simsbury's Talcott Mountain organized by the Avon Land Trust and Avon Recreation and Parks.

The “Take a Hike!” outing is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 29, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Hazen Park Trailhead along Hazen Drive in Avon.

Participants are asked to arrive by 9:45 a.m.

The hike will take participants to Talcott Mountain in neighboring Simsbury and the “Hike to the Mic” music festival. Organizers caution that the route includes steep climbs.

The return trip from the mountain is scheduled to begin at noon.

A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 30, the second day of the festival, atop the prominent Simsbury landmark.

Advance registration is requested through the Avon Recreation and Parks website at avonct.myrec.com.
