Want To Help? Avon Event To Connect Volunteers With Organizations

AVON, CT — Avon residents interested in giving back to the community can learn about volunteer opportunities with several local organizations at an upcoming meet-and-greet.

The Community Group Volunteer Event and Meet and Greet will be held Thursday, Sept. 24, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Community Room at the Avon Free Public Library.

Representatives from local nonprofit and community organizations will be available to answer questions about their work and ways residents can get involved.

The event is open to people of all ages and life stages, including middle and high school students, college students, adults, and retirees.

Participating organizations announced so far include Avon CERT, the Avon Historical Society, the Alzheimer's Association and the Avon Lions Club.

Organizers said additional nonprofit groups are also invited to participate.

The Avon Lions Club and Avon Free Public Library are coordinating the event.
