Berlin Opens Cooling Centers as Heat and Humidity Grip Region
Berlin residents can find relief from extreme heat at designated cooling centers through Sunday, July 5.
BERLIN, Conn. β Berlin officials are reminding residents to plan for dangerous heat as Berlin Town Hall offices close for the Independence Day holiday weekend.
The Town of Berlin said all Town Hall offices will close at the end of the business day on Thursday, July 2, and remain closed through Monday, July 6.
Residents seeking relief from the heat during the closure are encouraged to stay with family members or neighbors, visit shopping malls or other air-conditioned public places, or use the Berlin Police Department lobby and waiting area if needed.

Several town facilities will remain available before the holiday closure:
- Berlin Peck Memorial Library, 234 Kensington Road: Through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Berlin Community Center, 230 Kensington Road: Through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Berlin Senior Center, 33 Colonial Drive: Rhrough Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Berlin Town Hall, 240 Kensington Road: Rhrough Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Town officials issued the reminder as extreme heat is expected to affect Connecticut during the holiday weekend, urging residents to make plans in advance to stay cool and safe.
