Blizzard Prompts Parking Ban, Closures in Berlin
Berlin officials announced a parking ban and closures through Tuesday morning. Trash pickup is delayed.
BERLIN, CT β Berlin officials are urging residents to prepare for a major winter storm expected to bring blizzard conditions from Sunday afternoon through early Tuesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Warning beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday and lasting until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Town officials said residents should βmake all necessary preparations as soon as possible.β

A townwide parking ban is in effect through 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
Officials are asking residents to stay off the roads during the storm to allow plow operators and first responders to work safely and efficiently.

Town crews and emergency services are fully staffed and prepared to respond, according to officials.
The Berlin Department of Public Works and grounds crews will continue clearing roads, sidewalks, and town properties throughout Sunday evening and into Monday.
Trash and recycling collection has been canceled for Monday, Feb. 23, by the townβs waste hauler, Trash Away.
Pickup will resume on Tuesday.
Residents are asked to place trash and recycling at the curb on their regular collection day despite the delay.
Berlin Town Hall and all nonessential offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 23. All Monday meetings have been canceled or postponed.
Officials emphasized that residents should remain off the roads to ensure public safety and allow local and state crews to complete storm cleanup operations.
