Apartment Fire Reported In Downtown Bethel: Fire Officials

BETHEL, CT — A late-night apartment fire in downtown Bethel prompted a multi-agency response Thursday, though no injuries were reported, officials said.

Bethel emergency dispatchers received a call for a structure fire on Rector Street around 11:36 p.m., according to fire officials. Crews arrived within minutes and confirmed an active fire in a mixed-use building with commercial space and apartments.

The fire originated in a first-floor apartment, and a second alarm was quickly called due to the size of the building and visible flames, officials said.

All occupants were able to evacuate safely before crews arrived. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze, which was limited to the room of origin.

The Red Cross was contacted to assist displaced residents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
