Bethel Opens Cooling Centers During Extreme Heat

The Bethel Library and Senior Center will serve as cooling centers this week.

BETHEL, CT — Bethel has opened two cooling centers as Connecticut's Hot Weather Protocol remains in effect through Sunday amid dangerously hot and humid weather.

Residents seeking relief from the heat can visit the following locations:

  • Bethel Public Library
    • Wednesday and Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Bethel Senior Center
    • Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Forecasters are warning of dangerously hot and humid conditions across Connecticut this week, with the hottest weather expected Wednesday through Friday. Heat index values could exceed 105 degrees in parts of the state, prompting officials to urge residents to take precautions and limit time outdoors.
