Garden Club of Woodbridge Meeting and Working for Woodbridge

Tuesday, September 8, marked the first garden club meeting of the 2026–2027 season. On a bright, sunny day, members toured the garden and arboretum of a new member, the retired owner of a tree and landscaping company. The property has majestic trees, vibrant plants, and lush shrubs. Before each tour, members received a list of landscape features to find during a scavenger hunt. Club members provided delicious salads, sandwiches, and desserts, which were enjoyed poolside.

Garden Club of Woodbridge members were very active during the week of September 21. Wednesday afternoon a large group of members gathered at our president’s home to create floral arrangements for the Woodbridge “Living Treasures” event on Thursday evening. Dahlias, allium, berry branches, along with other diverse flowers and branches, produced seventeen extraordinary designs. The club’s own Martha “Muffy” German was one of the honorees recognized for her community service. The seventeen floral arrangements decorated the tables at the event.

The civic beautification get-together met at the corner garden at Meetinghouse Lane and Center Road this week to deadhead flowers (cutting or pinching off old, faded, or dead blooms from a plant). Meeting weekly from April through October, Carrie Velardi steers civic beautification members to keep the library gardens, the corner garden and the Darling House garden in first-rate shape.
