Classical Classics explores the remarkable development of chamber music during the Classical period.
Works by Haydn and Mozart, whose music established the foundations of the string quartet, are followed by a rarely performed work by American composer John Antes, one of the earliest known composers born in colonial America.
The program concludes with Beethoven's String Quartet in E Minor, Op. 59, No. 2, a work that reflects the expanding scope and expressive power of the genre.Together, these four works offer a compelling survey of a pivotal period in history, highlighting both familiar masterpieces and an uncommon musical discovery.
Performed by an outstanding ensemble at New Milford's historic Merryall Center, the program provides an opportunity to experience chamber music at its most inventive, intimate, and enduring.Tickets are $30 and children under 16 receive free admission.

The Glass House

Enjoy a summer evening exploring The Glass House at your own pace! During your&nbsp;self-guided visit&nbsp;to the campus, you will have free access to the&nbsp;Glass House, Brick House, Painting Gallery, and Sculpture Gallery.
On view this year in the Painting Gallery&nbsp;is&nbsp;Tomashi Jackson and Robert Rauschenberg: The Catch One. Featuring newly commissioned paintings by Jackson in dialogue with works by Rauschenberg from the historic site’s permanent collection and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the exhibition contributes to a global slate of 2025–26 initiatives that reexamine Rauschenberg’s legacy, honoring his expansive creativity, spirit of curiosity, and commitment to change.
In the Sculpture Gallery,&nbsp;encounter&nbsp;the large-scale works by artists including John Chamberlain, Bruce Nauman, and Frank Stella that were collected by Philip Johnson and David Whitney.
Our expert educators will be available across the site to provide information and answer questions.
Please note that all guests&nbsp;will need to exit The Glass House property by 8 PM.
