Defense Technology Company To Open New Facility In Brookfield

BROOKFIELD, CT — Defense technology company Leonardo DRS plans to open a new 141,000-square-foot facility in Brookfield as it expands its Naval Power Systems business in Connecticut.

The company announced this week it has signed an agreement for a 141,087-square-foot facility at 120 Park Ridge Road, where it will consolidate operations currently spread across three locations in Danbury and Bethel.

Initial occupancy is expected in early 2027, with the possibility of limited occupancy beginning in late 2026 depending on the completion of design and construction work, according to the company.

Leonardo DRS said the larger, consolidated facility will increase production capacity and support work for U.S. Navy programs, including its naval nuclear propulsion business. The company also expects the site to position it for growth in the broader nuclear energy industry.

“This new facility represents an important investment in the future of our Naval Power Systems business and in our ability to support mission-critical customer requirements,” Leonardo DRS CEO John Baylouny said in a statement.

The company pointed to plant modernization, advanced reactor development, energy security and maritime nuclear innovation as areas expected to drive demand in the nuclear sector.

“This investment gives us the space, infrastructure, and operational alignment to better serve our Navy customers today while also positioning the business to support emerging opportunities across the evolving nuclear sector,” said Jon Miller, senior vice president and general manager of Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems.

Leonardo DRS develops defense technologies for U.S. national security customers and allies, including advanced sensing, network computing, force protection and electric power and propulsion systems.
