Here's Where Drivers Can Expect Delays In Brookfield Friday

Police officers will carry the "Flame of Hope" through the area during the annual Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run.

BROOKFIELD, CT — Drivers in Brookfield and Danbury should expect brief traffic delays Friday morning as police officers participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut.

The statewide event raises awareness and support for Special Olympics athletes across Connecticut.

According to the Brookfield Police Department, officers will receive the "Flame of Hope" from the New Milford Police Department and run south on Federal Road from Faith Church past Stew Leonard's to Harley-Davidson of Danbury.

The Brookfield portion of the run covers approximately 6.5 miles and is expected to begin around 8:30 a.m.

Police said motorists should anticipate slow-moving traffic and brief delays along Federal Road while runners and support vehicles are on the roadway.

After reaching Harley-Davidson, officers from the Danbury Police Department will continue the torch run toward Bethel.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution, watch for runners and allow extra travel time if traveling through the area Friday morning.
