Canton FD's Beloved 'Lobsterfest' Returns This Week

The Canton Volunteer Fire Co. tradition features lobster dinners, live music, drinks, and Saturday activities for kids.

CANTON, CT — Lobster dinners, live music and family activities are on the menu this weekend as the Canton Volunteer Fire Co. holds its annual "Lobsterfest" event.

The event, to take place at the CVFC at 14 Canton Springs Road, is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 21, and Saturday, Aug. 22, with food, drinks, entertainment, and activities planned throughout the weekend.

  • Friday, Aug. 21:
    • Dinner served: 6 to 9:30 p.m.
    • Live music by Driving Iris: 6 to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday, Aug. 22:
    • Touch-a-Truck (for kids): Noon to 4 p.m.
    • Afternoon music: Noon to 4 p.m.
    • Dinner served: Noon to 9:30 p.m.
    • Evening live music by North County Band: 6 to 10 p.m.

Lobster dinners will headline the food offerings, while organizers said visitors can also stop at a food shack, dessert room, beer tent and beer booth. A dime pitch will also be among the attractions.

Saturday's family activities will include a touch-a-truck event, face painting and balloons from noon to 4 p.m.

The event supports the Canton Volunteer Fire Co.

As volunteers prepare the grounds for the weekend, organizers are also asking drivers traveling through the area to slow down and remain alert.

"There will be extra vehicles and people of all ages coming and going as we get ready for Lobsterfest this Friday & Saturday," organizers said in a social media post.

Organizers asked motorists to use extra caution around volunteers, first responders and others working on preparations ahead of the event.
