Ex-NFL Player Helps Raise $13K For Cancer Patients With Event At Cheshire Brewery

Three-time Super Bowl champion Joe Andruzzi hosted a "Hop Over Event" in Cheshire for his foundation supporting cancer patients & families.

CHESHIRE, CT — Former NFL player Joe Andruzzi’s foundation recently hosted a family-friendly fundraiser at Counter Weight Brewing Co. in Cheshire to help support local cancer patients and their families.

“Thanks to the generous community, the event raised over $13,000 to help New England cancer patients and their families cover essential living expenses like housing, food, utilities, and transportation,” officials wrote in an email about the event. “Guests were able to hear from Catiria, a Connecticut resident and JAF recipient, who shared her personal cancer story and highlighted the direct impact of this support on local families. The evening was made possible through the generous support of our event sponsors: Middlesex Health Cancer Center, Connecticut Real Estate Management, LLC (CREM), and United Property Restoration Services.”

Andruzzi, a three-time Super Bowl-winning offensive guard with the New England Patriots, founded the foundation with his wife Jen in 2008. The Joe Andruzzi Foundation grew out of Joe’s own successful battle with cancer.

“In 2007, Joe’s football career abruptly ended when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Burkitt’s lymphoma,” according to a news release. “Disease-free less than a year later, Joe and Jen chose to dedicate their lives towards solving the financial distress a cancer diagnosis can cause in the lives of patients and families.”
