California Man Pleads Guilty In Danbury Bitcoin And Kidnapping Plot

The guilty plea is tied to a 2024 kidnapping case in Danbury.

DANBURY, CT — A California man has pleaded guilty to his role in a kidnapping and robbery conspiracy connected to a 2024 Danbury case, federal prosecutors announced Monday.

Adam Iza, 25, pleaded guilty in federal court in Bridgeport to conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut.

The charge stems from an Aug. 25, 2024, kidnapping and carjacking in Danbury.

Iza was involved in planning the carjacking of a Lamborghini Urus and kidnapping the two individuals in the vehicle.

The vehicle occupants were the parents of a man who stole hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin. Iza and his co-conspirators hoped to steal some of the Bitcoin.

According to court documents, Iza communicated with some of the kidnappers, directed aspects of the operation and provided funding.

He faces up to 20 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 12.

Six other people charged in connection with the kidnapping and carjacking have already pleaded guilty, prosecutors said.
