Danbury Hospital Gets New Grade In National Rankings

DANBURY, CT — Danbury Hospital received an “A” grade in the newly released Spring 2026 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, a national report that evaluates hospitals on patient safety measures including medical errors, injuries and infections.

The biannual report from The Leapfrog Group assigns hospitals grades from “A” through “F” using more than 30 safety-related performance measures.

Connecticut ranked No. 1 in the nation in the latest report, with 64.3 percent of hospitals in the state earning an “A” grade, according to CT Insider.

Danbury Hospital scored better than average in several categories tracked by Leapfrog, including MRSA infections, harmful events, communication with nurses and doctors and leadership practices designed to prevent medical errors.

The hospital also received top scores in some categories, including computerized medication ordering systems and a surgical safety category measuring incidents involving dangerous objects left inside patients after surgery.

Leapfrog said the grades are intended to help patients compare hospitals based on publicly available safety data.
