Danbury Irish Festival Postponed Due To Worsening Weather Forecast

DANBURY, CT — The Greater Danbury Irish Festival has been postponed by one week due to the worsening weather forecast, organizers announced Thursday.

Originally scheduled for Sept. 26–27, the festival will now take place Saturday, Oct. 3, and Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center, 6 Lake Ave.

Organizers said they made the decision after reviewing the latest forecast and receiving feedback from vendors, bands and others involved in the event.

“We don't like to do this but felt we had no choice considering the latest forecast and other information, as well as the feedback from many of you,” the organization said in its announcement.

The free, two-day festival celebrates Irish culture with live music, Irish dancing, cultural activities, food and drinks. Visitors can also expect vendors, children's entertainment, games and raffles.

Admission is free throughout the weekend. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and identification is required for alcohol purchases.

The festival's originally advertised hours were noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Organizers have not yet confirmed whether those hours will remain the same on the new dates.
