Danbury Manufacturer Returning HQ To City, Bringing Up To 100 Jobs

DANBURY, CT — A manufacturing company founded in Danbury is returning its headquarters to the city for the first time in more than two decades, bringing dozens of new jobs with it, officials announced Monday.

Imperial Electronic Assembly plans to relocate its headquarters from Brookfield and construct a new 120,000-square-foot facility off Riverview Drive, according to Mayor Roberto Alves.

The project represents more than a $23 million investment in Danbury's manufacturing sector, city officials said.

Imperial currently employs about 125 workers and expects to add 40 to 50 jobs once the relocation is complete. The company said another 50 positions could be added as operations continue to expand.

"Business growth means jobs and career opportunities, and continued economic strength for our community," Alves said in a statement. "Danbury has always been a city where hard work and innovation thrive. We are proud to welcome Imperial Electronic Assembly back home."

Imperial Electronic Assembly was founded in Danbury in 1988 by Anthony Conte Sr. The company moved its headquarters to Brookfield in 2001 and is now returning to the city where it was established.

"We started this company right here in Danbury nearly four decades ago," Conte said. "It's incredibly meaningful for our family to bring our business back to the city where it all began."

The company is led by Conte and his sons, Matt Conte and Anthony Conte Jr., both Danbury residents.

Danbury's Economic & Community Development Office said it will continue working with the company as plans for the relocation move forward.
