Danbury To Mark America's 250th Birthday With Declaration Reading

The free Independence Day ceremony will include patriotic music and a citywide ringing of bells.

DANBURY, CT — Danbury residents are invited to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary with a public Independence Day ceremony Saturday.

The event begins at 2 p.m. July 4 at First Congregational Church and is being hosted by the Danbury Museum & Historical Society and the church.

The celebration will feature a public reading of the Declaration of Independence, patriotic music and a citywide ringing of bells in recognition of America's semiquincentennial.

Mayor Roberto Alves encouraged residents to attend, noting Danbury's role in the nation's history and the opportunity to reflect on the country's founding ideals.
