According to state education officials, students who participated in the program experienced an approximately 9-percentage-point increase in math proficiency rates on Smarter Balanced assessments, along with an average improvement of about nine scale-score points.
"We have now seen four consecutive years of improvement in mathematics, and that progress reinforces the importance of continuing to invest in strategies that are working for students," Connecticut Education Commissioner Charlene M. Russell-Tucker said in a statement.
Connecticut initially launched the program using nearly $11.5 million in federal pandemic relief funding. The latest round uses $2 million in state funding for fiscal year 2027 and expands eligibility from grades six through nine to grades six through 10.
