Danbury Woman Dies After Car Crashes Into Ridgefield Building: Police

The 32-year-old woman was pronounced dead after the crash, which remains under investigation.

DANBURY, CT — A 32-year-old Danbury woman died Sunday evening after a vehicle crashed into a building in Ridgefield, according to police.

Officers responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident at about 7:01 p.m. on April 26 near 709 Danbury Road (Route 7), just south of the Danbury town line, police said.

According to police, a Honda CR-V traveling southbound on Danbury Road lost control and struck a vacant building at that address.

The driver, identified as Nehemias Muruzumbay, was transported to Danbury Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The crash prompted a closure of Danbury Road (Route 7) near the Danbury town line, with southbound traffic detoured onto Bennetts Farm Road and northbound traffic closed at Route 35, according to Ridgefield police.

Due to the severity of the crash, the Ridgefield Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene, officials said.

The roadway later reopened to one lane in each direction as crews worked at the scene before fully reopening around 1 a.m., police said.

The building sustained structural damage, according to authorities.
