Danbury's Weekend Lineup: A Global Concert, An Irish Festival And Live Acoustics

DANBURY, CT — Danbury spreads real variety across all four days this weekend: a father-daughter illustration exhibit holds down the gallery all weekend, a local brewery brings live acoustic music to close out the week, and Saturday alone offers both an international dance-and-music showcase and the return of the Irish Festival for a second day.

• Legacy of the Line: The Work of Leslie Cober and Her Father Alan E. Cober — On view Thursday through Sunday (gallery hours noon to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday), running through Oct. 4. This exhibition pairs illustrator Leslie Cober's work with that of her late father, Alan E. Cober, tracing how his expressionist illustration style, which helped reshape post-war American illustration, echoes through her own. The Gallery at WCSU's Visual & Performing Arts Center, 43 Lake Ave. Extension.
• Friday Acoustics — Friday, 7 to 10 p.m. A weekly series of live acoustic sets at the taproom, a low-key way to start the weekend. Elicit Brewing Co. – Danbury, 15 Backus Avenue.
• Greater Danbury Irish Festival — Saturday, noon to 10 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. Two days of live Irish music and dance, cultural demonstrations, food, drink and vendors from the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center. Free admission all weekend. Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center, 6 Lake Ave.
• Mosaica: A Global Experience Concert — Saturday evening. A benefit for the Mexican Cultural Center of Danbury bringing mariachi, Mexican folklorico, Bollywood and Indian classical dance, Portuguese dance, Israeli music, Filipino folk dance, Polynesian dance and Latin music to one stage. Tickets are $35 plus fees, reserved seating. The Palace Danbury, 165 Main St.
