DANBURY, CT — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said three people were arrested during a targeted immigration enforcement operation conducted in Danbury on June 16 and 17.

According to ICE, those arrested included Edwin Palacios-Rivera, a Peruvian national; Jose Espinoza-Ceraquive, an Ecuadorian national; and Jorge Tamay-Angulo, also of Ecuador.

The arrests come amid an increase in ICE activity in Danbury in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, federal agents conducted other enforcement operations in the city that resulted in multiple arrests and prompted demonstrations by immigrant advocacy groups. City officials also raised concerns after a child was reportedly left inside a vehicle during one of the arrests.

"Our message is clear: if you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you, arrest you, and you will never return," an ICE spokesperson said in the statement.
