WestConn Senior Art Exhibition Featuring Local Students To Open In Danbury

The exhibit will feature work from 18 graduating art students.

DANBURY, CT — A new art exhibition showcasing the work of graduating Western Connecticut State University students from Danbury, Brookfield, Bethel and surrounding communities is set to open later this month.

The Senior Portfolio Exhibition will debut Thursday, April 23, at The Gallery at the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university’s Westside campus, according to organizers.

A public reception is scheduled for April 23 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the exhibit will remain on view through May 10.

The exhibition will feature work from 18 undergraduate art majors who are candidates for Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees, representing a range of concentrations, including graphic design, illustration, photography and studio arts.

Organizers said the exhibition serves as a capstone experience for students, allowing them to showcase their portfolios as they prepare to graduate.

Gallery hours will be noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. on weekends. Admission is free and open to the public.
